Bootleg Archive was founded on November 16, 2001 and started as a Direct Connect Hub for trading SHNs (*.shn format). The Bootleg Archive web site started as a list for xfernal's growing collection and quickly became a resource for other members as a reference and research website for their own bootleg collection.
Now Bootleg Archive is an online music community dedicated to storing information about live audio music.
Bootleg Archive provides a web interface for users to organize their bootleg collection as well as find other members to negotiate trades, and tracking which recordings are in circulation. Unlike other sites, Bootleg Archive provides not only the information about the bootleg, but also any md5 files or graphics associated with the bootleg.
Xfernal still maintains BootlegArchive.com. A team of volunteers help maintain the data and add bootlegs that are in circulation.
